Essential Functions

· Spearhead the controls software design and development for custom, automatic assembly and test equipment projects from concept to acceptance working with project managers, mechanical engineering team, and clients

· Develop both PC and PLC based controls systems

· Architect, write, and debug PLC ladder logic and code with an emphasis on generating software that is organized, structured, documented, maintainable, and reusable

· Create and prepare control system testing plans for Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) in accordance with design requirements, company protocols, processes, and procedures

· Implement reliable safety systems for safeguarding manufacturing systems

· Create machine interactions with plant-wide Manufacturing Execution System (MES)

· Provide field support to commission the control systems, perform SAT, provide system training to client personnel, and troubleshooting

· Design and maintain operating documentation that thoroughly describes all aspects of the intended design following company document standards

· Assist with mentoring, coaching, and developing junior software team members


· BS/MS Engineering Degree with major concentration in Controls, Computer Control Systems, Mechatronic, Automation, Electrical, or equivalent

· 8+ years’ experience as a hands-on Controls or Robotics Engineer working on automation and/or electromechanical systems

· Advanced proficiency programming industrial equipment such as Allen Bradley RSLogix 5000, Siemens S7/TIA Portal, HMI/GUI, AB Panelview, Ignition, AB DeviceNet, Ethernet IP, Profinet, and Safety Rate Field Bus Networks

· Demonstrated excellence in multi-station PLC programming

· Wide exposure to production machinery

· Experience programming Cartesian, SCARA and Articulated robots (Fanuc, Denso, ABB)

· In depth experience with Vision Systems (Cognex, Keyence, Fanuc)

· Proficient with process integration and electromechanical/mechatronic systems

· Proficient with electrical standards and safety standards
